Highlights of August 2014 Issue

August 2014

August issue of little hands is rich in contents. Mark Twain, the creator of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, two of children’s favourite characters, speaks on the face page of the magazine. A new revelation of chocolates and the real story behind a popular nursery song (ring a ring o’roses) give new twist to our perception.

The long poem by Prof.G.N. Panikkar in this issue fills us with nostalgia. The quoting from Anton Chekhov ‘Man is what he believes’ is really motivating. There is an article by Vivek M.Nair on addiction. It is really thought provoking. In the series ‘Great Sports Personalities’, Roger Bannister, the miracle runner appears. His story is a source of inspiration for all athlets. Jane Austen, the famous English novelist is the ‘guest of the month’. Her brief biography helps the children know the unique talent closely. ‘Treating from far away’ is the presentation of a Chinese doctor treating patients world wide, sitting in his living room and praying for them. A story by Dr. Usha Menon, Maths corner by Sri Krishnan Nair, Stories and poems by children, ‘test your English’ ‘news at a glance’, ‘amazing facts’ grammar lessons, G.K.tips etc. make the September issue quite resourceful.
